Well now - it seemed a lot of people had their eggs hatch before him. Laguna had gotten a bit worried - the one he's gotten from the breeding center hadn't even hatched yet!

...But, today was a pretty special day for him. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself, as he was filming. He was pretty happy.]

The big 28, huh? Man, if I was at home, I wonder where I'd be right now? Probably with--

[Hahaha... yup, it's his birthday. He's just talking to himself, recording a bit of the slightly snowy Cherrygrove enviroment. Until--]

[The video suddenly turned off, the 'gear dropping. Why? Well, Laguna just felt something shaking in his bag. A few moments later, he's suddenly swarmed by Pokemon! And, well, see the picture - the gear seems to have fallen into the sand in just the right place. Lucky!!!]

Looks like they were waiting for each other, doesn't it? All three of them... Cecil, looks like your Litwick hatched, too! And little Leon, and... [Actually, he didn't have a name planned for his third, strange egg. Looks like he's got some thinking to do - Litwick does have a name, mind. It's gonna end up being Tom. The horror. But he's got a smile, either way. Truth be told, he's hella excited.]

Here's to the new year! [He gives a wave, before Boco the friendly Pidgey flies to the 'gear and pokes it off. After a few missed pecks, of course.]

Oh yeah - that's my starter, Ragnarok. He's not a fan of the group hugs, I guess?

[Of course he doesn't know the true meaning of the name. He was thinking more like - Leon sounds like Lion and is also a coolish name.]

[He does notice the thick voice - something up? He doesn't question it yet, though.]

Not yet. I've been told what kind of pokemon it was but I don't know when it'll hatch.

[Misaki blinked. She had thought the pidgey was his starter, not the snake. She shrugged off the thought.] He's the loner type, huh?

[He hopes not... but anyway.] Looks like. I dunno... we don't really fit each other.

Well, you can't rush development, you know? [Especially with all this winter cold, oh god. Poor Dragon type.]

[Misaki flashed a smile, remembering how many times that thought came to mind. With people like Madoka and Ruka, its bound to come up.]

I see what you mean. I guess it'll change over time.

[She gave a little shrug.] Plus, it gives me more time to prepare for when it hatches. Its species are born blind and will remain that way for quite a while. Poor things usually try to bite stuff to make familiar of their surroundings.

It's good you accept him for who he is. I'm sure he'll continue to be strong as long as - wait, where did he go?

Really? [spoilers: someday, laguna will have a deino. it will be terrible for all.] I don't know how I'd get ready for that... I'm glad this girl isn't a biter!
[The Munna is just resting on him, making nibbling motions while half-asleep.
But then Laguna looks over behind him.] He tends to wander off - guess he just likes his alone time! He hasn't come back that hurt, so I think it's okay.

[I'd wanna see that happen, oh ho ho.]

[Misaki looked at the Munna, fascinated by its cuteness it was emitting. She hates how vulnerable she was to stuff like that.] ...Do you know what kind of pokemon that is? It looks kind of like...a yellow pig.

[The girl only blinked upon hearing the man's explanation but soon gave a shrug.] ..Shouldn't be something to worry about then.

It's a Munna, I think? That's what I kinda heard just when she hatched. She does look kinda piggish, I guess?
[He's not gonna mention he heard it in his head only.]
But I've noticed... everybody's Christmas eggs seem to be different colours then the normal ones. Wonder what she's meant to look like.

Etymology, perhaps.

I guess... but it suits him, I guess? Wonder why it's so strange.
[hahaha] But I'm sure he'll grow up strong. I mean, when he hatched, he tackled me a bit. [With a Quick Attack. Laguna's just still smiling, though. It could have been worse!] And besides - I'll make sure they all grow up well, we've got things to protect!

[There's a tiny chuckle; a Shinx, huh? Fitting, considering what it grows up into.]

Something like that. [she clears her throat, trying to sound normal again. Doesn't quite work but it's better than before.] Leon was the name of a man who was here before. A lot of people knew him.

[Have Ushio watching in awe. Her own trio of Pokémon sitting around her.]

Maybe they did it specifically for your birthday!

[...Ooh! Suddenly, the Pidgey flaps up. Hi, friend! Laguna, though, is trying to stop the bird from pecking the screen as it flaps around. Boco... doesn't know about cameras, it thinks there's a tiny Oshawott in there.

[He turns a bit, and lets out a laugh - his Litwick approaching Ushio a bit.]
Looks like we'll need to prepare a lot more presents next year, then!

[She smiles and watches the Litwick approach.]

Do you think it'll be hard to train them all?

[Not surprised he had no idea. Most people don't talk about those who have left.]
